A Peek Inside of My Mostly Plant-Based Freezer

in Other

Happy Tuesday!  Or… maybe not.  It is the dreaded Tuesday, after all.  I am trying to stay positive, though, and there are a couple of ways that I am doing that.

1. Reminding myself that in exactly two weeks I will be heading home for the Christmas holiday.  Seriously, how is it December 9th already?
2. Talking about food! <– That always makes me happy.

About a month or so ago, I shared a post about what I keep inside of my refrigerator.  I have a fascination with what others eat and buy at the grocery store, and it turns out that y’all do too!  Since many of you seemed to love peeking into my fridge, I figured it was only right that I give the freezer some attention.  Let’s take a peek inside of my thrilling freezer!

A Peek Inside of My Mostly Plant-Based Freezer

freezer breadFirst up: some of the grains!  I almost always have tortillas in my freezer for things like tortilla pizzas, burritos, and wraps.  Right now I also have some leftover hot dog buns and hamburger buns.

freezer bread 2I think half of my freezer is taken up by bread products.  Here we have two partial loaves of sprouted bread, a full loaf of Ezekiel bread, a full loaf of Whole Foods 365 bread (it was free with a coupon!), everything bagels, and a mini loaf of Rotella’s Italian Christmas bread that I was given at The Christmas Carol production.  What can I say, I like my carbs!

freezer berriesMy freezer always contains plenty of smoothie essentials.  Here we have tons of frozen berries and frozen zucchini.  I normally always have a large plastic bag of frozen bananas, as well, but this picture was taken right before I cut my bunch of bananas up.

freezer leftoversIt’s not a freezer without a good stockpile of leftovers!  Three of these are split pea soup, one is leftover stuffing from Friendsgiving, the two small containers on the left are leftover beans, the small middle container is leftover pasta sauce, and I have one Runza left from our Three Cooks One Kitchen Runza-making party.  These leftovers are my go-tos on lazy week nights.

freezer miscNow we are getting to some of the randoms… broccoli pancakes (amazing!) and vegan Daiya cheese slices.

freezer randomsI also have a spinach and artichoke dip that I got for free by joining Sam’s Club.  One of these days I will have guests that I can pawn this off on (it has gelatin in it).  And Field Roast vegan burgers <– so good!

freezer vegetablesIt wouldn’t be the Clean Eating Veggie Girl’s freezer without tons of veggies.  We’ve got peppers, peas, spinach, brussel sprouts, mixed veggies, broccoli, and corn.  I think I have the green vegetables covered.

Somehow I managed to stuff all of this into a standard-sized freezer.  Lord knows that it normally looks like a mess, though.  I definitely took this post as an opportunity to clean ‘er out.  I imagine it will stay organized for a maximum of about one week.

What are your freezer staples?

i hope your days turns out amazing! Your freezer looks a lot Like mine. i don't keep as much bread as you do but I'm always surprised by the amount of veggies and fruit I can cram in there. Do you know my freezer lately has room in it? It used to be so stuffed, I don't know what I am missing. I just have the usual frozen berries, vegetables, a few Dr. Praeger's products, cookie dough (ha), Ezekiel bread and waffles. Oh and some TJ things like brown rice and I think a random egg roll and those kale birds nests that my son likes. meredith@ The Cookie ChRUNicles recently posted...Gigabody Review Plus Giveaway! My Profile

My freezer is almost always STUFFED. I'm not sure what I am going to do when my boyfriend and I live together... I guess he just won't be able to buy food ;)

Just now going vegan! This really gives me a lot of ideas. IDK about the broccoli pancakes though! LOL! I'm always on the look out for a good vegan cheese. I'm so picky! I'll have to try this brand. Thanks for sharing! :)

I love Daiya for "cheese." Unfortunately, the broccoli pancakes are not vegan. They contain eggwhites :( They really are quite delicious, though!

Gelatin in spinach and artichoke dip? That's just sad! Let's take the best vegetarian dip option and un-vegetarianify if. Everything else looks great though! I don't take very much notice of the things in my freezer, so everything is sad and freezer burnt (probably doesn't help that we have 2 freezers for 2 people) - have to get better about this! I was just going to ask if you had a huge chest freezer! Holy moly girl, that is a lot of freezer food! And those broccoli pancakes do sound good. They kind of remind me of latkes although I doubt they are similar, haha. Becky @ Olives n Wine recently posted...#65 Treat Yourself TuesdayMy Profile

Dreaded Tuesday? Oh girl! I'm so sorry. I hope your day ends up going much better then expected. To answer your question: Our freezer has been pretty bare lately. We do always have chicken, ground turkey/lean ground beef, and english muffins.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl December 10, 2014, 10:05 am
Ahh, English Muffins!! It has been forever since I have had those. I need to buy some this weekend. Thanks for the reminder ;)

Yum you are making me crave home and all the frozen food goodies! I am a big stew maker so I slow cook veggie stews and store half of them in the freezer for future meals! xo C
    • ClnEatingVegGrl December 10, 2014, 10:17 am
Ahh, that is SO smart! I need to start freezing more pre-cut and cooked veggies.
  • Molly December 9, 2014, 9:09 am
I'm impressed. My freezer contains 5 bags of frozen stir fry veggies (mine); waffles, popsicles, a frozen pizza, and hot pockets (the husband's); and an embarrassing amount of liquor (both of our's).
    • ClnEatingVegGrl December 10, 2014, 10:18 am
Haha! That reminds me of college. For some reason I never have liquor in my freezer now, but I always did in college! ;)
  • Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine December 9, 2014, 10:31 am
Tortillas! <3 I also keep my gluten-free bread in the freezer, alonf with all the veggies, fruit, left overs, extra pumpkin puree etc!
    • ClnEatingVegGrl December 10, 2014, 10:19 am
It sounds like we have very similar freezers!

I've been wanting to get into making smoothies. Keeping frozen berries around is a necessity.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl December 10, 2014, 10:23 am
It really is! Smoothies are so easy to make when you are prepared and have your ingredients all ready ahead of time! It makes my mornings go much more smoothly (no pun intended)!

And my freezer staples include leftovers, fruits, veggies and I really like to keep frozen mashed banana in my fridge for easy and quick desserts!
