My Day as a Food Blogger

in Other

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Snapple® Straight Up™ Tea. The opinions and texts are all mine.

My most favorite posts to read from other bloggers are those that involve a peek into their life.  I love seeing what they do for fun in their home towns.  I love seeing what a day of eats look like for them.  And I love getting a behind-the-scenes look at how they blog. So for those who aspire to be bloggers just like them, they can explore some High-Quality Content Tips.

Since I am sure I am not much different from other bloggers and blog readers, I bet you like the same kind of thing!  That is exactly why these day in the life-style posts are popping up about once a month here on CEVG.  I titled this specific post “My Day as a Food Blogger” since this particular day involved a lot of blog reading, writing, cooking, and photographing.  Some days, believe it or not, none of those things happen.  On those days I pretend like I am just your everyday, average non-blogger.

Because this post is sponsored by Snapple, you’ll also get a peek into what I’ve been sipping on during my afternoons lately in an effort to recharge.  Their new premium tea beverage has a true tea taste that I am loving.  Oh, and they’re teaming up with Hy-Vee to hook us all up with a sweet coupon below!

My Day as a Food Blogger

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adI started my day out in the most relaxing way possible: with restorative yoga poses, meditation, mindful breathing, muscle massage, and foam rolling.

day_in_life_meditatioI used my favorite meditation app, “Stop, Breathe & Think” for a relaxing start to my day.  I ended up doing a total of about 20 minutes of meditation and mindful breathing.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAfter meditating, breathing, stretching, and foam rolling, I whipped up breakfast.  I wasn’t originally planning to eat overnight oats, but I was majorly craving them.  So I prepped them knowing that about an hour in the fridge would essentially be the same as if they had sat overnight.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAfter prepping breakfast, I headed out on a walk.  I left around 8:30 and it was seriously SO hot already.  If you remember, on this particular weekend the Midwest was experiencing a major heat wave.  It was already about 80 degrees and quite humid.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adLately I have been listening to podcasts while on my solo walks.  The Paleo Women podcast is a new favorite of mine.  On this particular episode, Noelle and Stefani spoke about eating out at restaurants when you have food intolerances (hello, me!), SIBO, adrenal fatigue, and cellulite.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adI walked past a playground and my inner kid decided to take a quick swing.  I can tell I have gotten older since I used to love swinging and now it sort of gives me motion sickness.  Such a serious shame.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adI’m not one to sweat, but holy moly was I sweaty when I arrived home.  I sat down and propped my feet up while watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix, reading blog posts, scheduling social media shares, re-hydrating, and popping probiotics.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAnd since my stomach was literally growling, I scarfed down breakfast.  The soaked oats were delicious topped with fresh blueberries and coconut butter.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAfter arriving home from an hour and a half of shopping for house supplies, the first thing on my mind was reheating these leftovers.  I highly recommend this easy chicken and bean back.  It is so darn easy to make and super delicious.  I paired it with baby carrots and hummus.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAfter lunch, I watched more Gilmore Girls episodes and started working on this post, followed by cooking and photographing for my Sausage and Veggie Cauliflower Rice post.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adWhile the cooking and photography was going down, I also snacked on an organic red delicious apple and raw cashews.  This  has been my favorite lately.

http://www.katheats.com/easy-chicken-and-bean-bakeAt around 4:00, I hit my usual afternoon slump.  I don’t know if it is the mono or what, but my energy just plummets.  I am not normally one to take naps because I know it will really mess with my bedtime, so that was out of the question.  Luckily, Jeremy and I had grabbed a couple of these new varieties of Snapple Straight Up Tea while grocery shopping at Hy-Vee earlier in the week.  Out of the five varieties (Unsweetened, Sorta Sweet, Sweet, Sorta Sweet Honey Green, and Sorta Sweet Rooibos), Jeremy chose the Sorta Sweet Rooibos, while I went with the Unsweetened.  I guess Jeremy was feeling a bit more adventurous than I was!

A major positive to this tea is that it is made with simple, all-natural ingredients.  I personally appreciate that all of the varieties are gluten-free, and it doesn’t hurt that they taste freshly brewed with zero effort needed.

Now it is time to snatch up that Hy-Vee digital coupon offer for: “Buy ONE Snapple Straight Up Tea at Hy-Vee and get one FREE!”  And if you’re feeling in the musical mood, check out the “True Tea Tunes” radio station on Pandora while you’re sipping.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adAfter rebooting, I threw my hair up, put on a bit of makeup, and changed into decently presentable clothing.  Luckily, my closest friends couldn’t care less how I look.

My Day as a Food Blogger | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #adJeremy and I drove about an hour east to Davenport for dinner at Woodfire Grill with three of our friends.

I ordered a sirloin steak with steamed asparagus and the best sweet potato fries.  This meal kind of made me wish that I could eat steak every day of my life. I know I could eat steak everyday if I wanted to with Steaks from We Speak Meat.

This was living the life as a food blogger as its finest.  Now if only I could repeat something similar every single summer day.  I’m thinking my full-time job might get in the way of that…
