I don’t know about you, but Tuesdays are not one of my favorite days. I have decided that Tuesdays are actually one of the “worst” days of the week. They are far away from the weekend and they always seem to just draaaaag along. Anybody with me on this one? Yes? Okay good, I’m not crazy ;).
Lately, however, I have decided to try to adopt a more positive attitude. And one way that I am doing that is by joining in with Becky’s Treat Yourself Tuesday link-up. What better way to put yourself in a good mood for the day than to think back on all of the fabulous things that have occurred in your life over the past week? So let’s get right to it, shall we?
I have treated myself A LOT lately, starting with last Thursday evening. I attended a Meet-up group get together at Blatt Beer & Table in downtown Omaha. The restaurant was very chill and cool on the inside and the menu choices made me quite happy. There were several vegetarian options and after some deep contemplation, I decided on the vegetarian currywurst with a side of coleslaw.
Now I realize that this picture is absolutely awful, but trust me, it does not do this meal any justice whatsoever. The currywurst consisted of a vegetarian “bratwurst” made from pinto beans, smoky ketchup, and sauerkraut all stuffed into a pretzel bun. Um, this was aaamaaaaazing!! I absolutely loved being able to enjoy a vegetarian menu selection that was not just your ordinary veggie burger. I will most definitely be eating this again…and soon!
The second way that I treated myself this weekend was by switching my blog over to self-hosted! This treat absolutely would not have happened without the very generous help of Josh from over at Hidden Fruits and Veggies. All of my posts appear to be switched over and my domain is finally directing you all to the proper place! I am currently in the process of working on transferring over my e-mail followers and stats. I still have a lot of work to do, things to add, plug-ins to figure out, and blog design to work on, but one stop at a time, right? I am definitely breathing a major sigh of relief after the stress that this all caused me last week.
Next up, I majorly treated myself with a very, VERY large purchase on Saturday. I’m not kidding. This was the biggest purchase I have ever made in my life. I said goodbye to this baby:
(I love that I can see my shadow in this picture ;))
…and said hello to this beauty:
I traded in my Chevy Malibu and purchased a new Subaru Impreza. I am just a little bit in love! 😉 This baby has got some pretty nice features (I am already taking advantage of those heated seats…ahh, Winter must be on the way! :(). I’m not going to lie, though, it was surprisingly difficult to say goodbye to my old car. I had it for about seven years and we had been through a lot together. I actually found myself tearing up a bit as I drove away from the dealership and likely saw her for the last time. I know, I know…it’s a car. But for some reason I could not help myself! It is time to move on now, though, and what better way to do so than with my new Subi? Oh, and I must give a huge shout out to my parents. Without their guidance, research, and negotiating help, this likely would not have been possible. Major kudos to them!
And finally, I capped out my weekend with one final treat:
It doesn’t get much better than that, right?
Now, it is time for me to treat one of you! The lucky winner of a copy of The China Study Cookbook is:
oooh my gosh – I just finished writing a blog post (it’ll be published tomorrow) about how much inspiration I find from cookbooks! I would LOVE to have a vegan cookbook – crossing my fingers! : )
