A Slightly Monotonous WIAW: July 10, 2013

in Other

If you have not already noticed, I am quite the creature of habit.  I just cannot help it.  I like what I like.  As a result, my breakfasts and snacks tend to all look the same.  Hopefully I am not boring you too much with my monotonous eats!

WIAW general

WIAW: July 10, 2013

Let’s take a look at What I ate Wednesday Tuesday.

Breakfast

WIAW 52913

Here is the perfect example of monotony: My cereal bowl.  I love and crave cereal nearly every day.  Yesterday’s cereal bowl contained Kashi GoLean (like always), Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut, Cheerios, and Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch cereals.  I topped the cereal bowl off with some unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Mid-Morning Snack

Every. single. day.

Lunch

friday favorite guac cauliflower rice

Lunch was leftovers from Monday night’s dinner: Guacamole Cauliflower Rice.  More on this in my Friday Favorites post later on this week because, well, it is definitely worth being a favorite of mine!

and…

Afternoon Snack

WIAW 71013

Pure deliciousness!  I think that this is my favorite flavor so far!

Dinner

friday favorite black eye kale soup

Last night’s dinner (and today’s lunch!) was a smoky black-eyed pea and kale soup (more on this in a future Friday Favorites post!).  Instead of using crackers like I normally do, I crumbled lightly salted whole brown rice cakes into my soup.  It was taaaasty!

Snacks

WIAW 62613

A veggie snack plate…

WIAW 22013 3

…cantaloupe!…

WIAW 71013 2

…and one of my new favorite snacks: a baked sweet potato topped with peanut butter and cinnamon!  I sometimes eat this for breakfast, too!

Have a wonderful Wednesday :).

  • Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani) July 10, 2013, 7:29 am

I’m a creature of habit with my eats too…so long as you’re enjoying ’em, there’s no harm 🙂

  • Katherine July 10, 2013, 7:52 am

Monotonous or not, your food is so simplistic and whole. I’m such a creature of habit, so I totally get how it can become same old same old, but this food all looks good to me 🙂 As long as you like it, I see no problems! 🙂

  • Eating 4 Balance July 10, 2013, 7:56 am

That sweet potato topped with peanut butter sounds marvelous! And I think your monotony is refreshing! 🙂 It seems like everyone is always trying to find the newest product or the strangest new food combination, but I personally just like what works and tastes best. Usually that is the same thing that I eat everyday as well.

  • Alex@Veggin' Out July 10, 2013, 8:04 am

You never bore me with your eats! They always look delicious 🙂 I tend to eat similar things from day to day too. I just find something I like and want to eat it all the time!
Sweet potatoes with peanut butter are the BEST!

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl July 10, 2013, 9:40 pm

They SO are! I need to try out some other nut butters with them because I am sure that that would be fabulous too.

  • jessielovestorun July 10, 2013, 8:04 am

I could eat everything you showed! It all looks great, especially the sweet potato 🙂

  • Her Happy Balance July 10, 2013, 8:12 am

Guacamole cauliflower rice and a black bean kale soup? They both look so good, did you make them? I don’t want to wait until Friday to find out 🙂 haha

  • Mandy @ The Running Herbivore July 10, 2013, 8:12 am

That soup looks soooo good! This rainy weather we’ve been having around my area is making me want soup!!

I definitely think I might try the sweet potatoes and peanut butter for breakfast to change up from my smoothies!

  • Julia July 10, 2013, 8:22 am

That’s not monotonous at all! That’s a wonderful spread of deliciousness! The smokey black eyed pea kale soup looks phenomenal…and guacamole cauliflower rice? Hooooly crap! You’re the second person I have seen mention sweet potato with peanut butter and now I’m dying to try it. Good eats!

  • Erin July 10, 2013, 8:30 am

    It still makes me smile when I see your evening snacks…And then makes me want to punch myself haha! Maybe one day I will crave healthy stuff for snacks (;

Haha, trust me I have my splurging moments, but I actually really CRAVE veggies and fruit.

  • jumpeatrun July 10, 2013, 8:32 am

I am totally a creature of habit when it comes to food too…especially lunches during the work week- I almost always have a salad 🙂
    Your lunch looks awesome btw.

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl July 10, 2013, 9:43 pm

My lunches are pretty much always leftovers from dinner the night before. If not, I go with the salads, too.

  • swissfitchick July 10, 2013, 8:34 am

Oh that Sweet Potato looks so good! The combo with nut butter and cinnamon is just perfect. I eat mine with yogurt on top, love that too!

  • Dana @ Conscious Kitchen Blog July 10, 2013, 12:59 pm

I’m such a creature of habit too! I tend to find one thing I like for lunch, that’s easy to bring to work and stick with it for weeks on end. Oh well. I’ll have to try a sweet potato and PB… I’ve never done that.

  • dailycupofkate July 10, 2013, 2:02 pm

Not a day goes by where I don’t eat a banana or sweet potato with peanut butter!

  • Rach @ This Italian Family July 10, 2013, 2:16 pm

Nothing wrong with the same-old-same-old! Delicious eats as always. 🙂

Mmmm baked potato and peanut butter is the beeeesttt!

  • NaturesComplete July 10, 2013, 3:42 pm

  • Becky @ Olives n Wine July 10, 2013, 3:57 pm

YUMM!!!! I love the idea of combining sweet potato and peanut butter. I actually just bought a sweet potato at Target today so I might have to try that out for dessert 🙂

  • sweetsummersmiles July 10, 2013, 6:54 pm

I’ve never had a sweet potatoe with pb before but that looks really good. I’m going to try that soon!

  • Nicole @ FruitnFitness July 10, 2013, 8:21 pm

Baked potato with nut butter is always a winning combination! I havent tried the PB&J flavor yet, I’m not a big fan of jelly so I don’t know if I would like it or not.

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl July 10, 2013, 10:00 pm

You should give it a try. It is made with dates and cherries so if you like those then you will probably like it!

  • cottercrunch July 10, 2013, 8:47 pm

potato and PB… that’s like GOLD in our house. hehe

  • Jan @ Sprouts n Squats July 10, 2013, 10:09 pm

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl July 11, 2013, 7:08 am

Oooo, I love the idea of adding sea salt! I am definitely trying that next time.

  • kimathungryhealthygirl July 11, 2013, 7:57 am

Yay…looks like you had success with the cauliflower ‘rice’!! Love the looks of that black-eyed pea soup and, of course, that PB sweet potato!

  • MegBek July 11, 2013, 9:36 am

All of this looks amazing! I have got to try a sweet potato with some almond butter and cinnamon. I never even thought to put those two together. You’re a genius. Also, I will never be able to live without bananas. They never get old. I’m also a creature of habit. Meghan, on the other hand, has gotten sick of numerous food items lately. It’s hard to keep up, haha. I guess you can over do certain items sometimes.

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl July 11, 2013, 6:32 pm

Oh you must try the sweet potato, nut butter, cinnamon combo. It is awesome!!

  • Flake And Cake July 11, 2013, 12:01 pm

Baked sweet potato with peanut butter and cinnamon sounds amazing, ill have to give it a try! I’m such a creature of habit with my food but its cheaper and healthier for me than trying something new every day!

  • Alexis @ Hummusapien July 11, 2013, 12:23 pm

Doesn’t look boring to me! I love the sweet potato + almond butter combo, but pb sounds like a great addition, too. I’m just like you with cereal–I like to mix together a bunch of different kinds and top it all off with unsweetened vanilla almond milk! Delish 🙂

  • katalysthealth July 11, 2013, 1:41 pm

you know, I cant get into the whole sweet tater with nut butter thing and I have no idea WHY! I love sweet taters and I love nutbutters, why don’t I like them together?! So weird!

  • theafterschoolchef July 11, 2013, 2:52 pm
