I cannot say that I am super excited about the fact that today is Tuesday. Going back to work after a three day weekend is even more difficult than going back to work after a normal weekend. However, I do have a lot to look forward to with a weekend at home ahead of me. I only have two and a half workdays to go and then I am home free. I can handle that!
Another great thing about this particular Tuesday is that I now have the chance to recap my three day weekend and all that I treated myself to. It was a great one! I am linking up with Becky from Olives ‘n Wine for this one.
This may be the strangest picture I have ever posted on here. It also may not seem like much of a treat. But after years of dealing with knee pains, I figured anything and everything that I try to help get it better is definitely a “treat.” This little patch is iontophoresis in the works. Basically it uses ions and an electrical field (that’s a battery in the middle) to deliver my knee a small dose of steroids. Say some prayers for me that this, along with the physical therapy, will work!
I genuinely love grocery shopping so this was definitely a treat. After PT, I hit up Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Treating myself to healthy and whole foods is one of the best treats that I can do for my body and my health. Good food = good treats!
After some much needed healthy weight changes along with an afternoon of cleaning out my closet, I desperately needed to replenish my pant supply. I ordered two pairs of skinny jeans and two pairs of work pants from American Eagle. I was so excited that all four pairs fit like a dream.
That is not the only apparel that I have treated myself to lately. This coming weekend I am going home for a huge event in our town, the Tristate Rodeo. There will be eating, beer drinking, country concerts, and camping all with some of my best friends. This year I finally have boots to wear because Lord knows it is not fun wearing flip flops around mud and horse poop 😉
On Saturday I treated myself to something that I have been wanting to try all Summer: stand up paddleboarding!
I met up with Joanna, Kelly, Lindsay, Emily, Jordan, and Erin for our paddling party with Driftwood Paddleboard Adventures.
We had a blast, none of us fell, and we all left feeling fairly confident in our abilities. The weather was absolutely gorgeous too!
One of my absolute favorite parts about the experience was getting to see the owner, Paul’s, goldendoodle. As a goldendoodle lover, it was so fun to see Max swim in the water and ride along on Paul’s board. I was even lucky enough to get my picture with him on my board. He was a trooper!
(thanks to Paul for sharing these photos)
Apparently I did not get enough girl time in on Saturday because I met Joanna, Jordan and Erin at Railcar Modern American Kitchen for lunch the next day. The decor inside was so cute and the food was delicious. I ordered the grilled vegetable burger with a side of asparagus.
Yesterday I treated myself to something that I have been wanting for awhile: wall decor for my bathroom. Since moving into my apartment about a year and a half ago, I have slowly been purchasing turquoise wall art for all of my walls. When I spotted this at Tj Maxx, I knew it was perfect. My shower curtain is white, navy, lime green, teal, and brown. I am pretty sure this was made to go with it! I also never had an issue when we switched to Gardners shower trays. On a different note, I’ve also been experimenting with digital art using a drawing tablet without screen, which has surprisingly improved my workflow and focus.
I finished off my weekend with a little homework. I am taking a Nutrition class for fun this term and I am loving it so far!
All in all it was a great Labor Day weekend! Do I want to be back at work so soon? Not really. But it is what it is and it just means I am that much closer to the weekend. Let’s make this a quick week, friends!

You look like a freakin’ pro at SUP! Go you! I love the photo of you and Max… he looks like he’s loving life 🙂 And that knee contraption had me soooo confused until I read the description. I hope it helps – knee pain is the worst ever!
Max was the cutest! He is such a lucky/happy dog!
Love all your treats! The stand up paddleboarding looks like a blast! I’ve never tried it before, but I totally would if I ever got the chance!
I was nervous at first that I would fall off, but it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was a blast! You should definitely try it sometime… probably after the babies though. They might make it quite difficult 😉
OOOH I WANT MY TREAT TO BE SUP YOGA!!!
It was an awesome treat! You should definitely treat yourself to it sometime 🙂
Could you be any darn cuter? I got to SUP one time and I absolutely fell in love with it. I need to do it again someday!
Isn’t it SO fun? It makes me tempted to buy my own board… though I can only imagine how expensive those are!!
Omg I did NOT want to go back to work this morning! haha
I love your wall art! What TJMaxx do you go to? I haven’t been to any in Omaha yet and that is crazy to me.
I had so much fun paddleboarding! I wanted to steal Max. haha
I go to the TJ Maxx at Shadow Lake. We can go sometime together if you want!
Yay for SUP! I’ve only been once, but it’s so much fun 🙂 Glad you squeezed it in before summer ends!
Me too!!! The weather was absolutely perfect, too, so we really lucked out!
Fingers crossed for your knee. And I love those pants from AE – I’m going to have to check them out!! 🙂
Thanks so much, Katie! It is hard to be optimistic at this point, but you never know! And yes.. AE has awesome pants and for great prices. I always stock up when they have sales/free shipping!
I remember those patches from my PT – they hurt so good! 😉
SUP was SO fun! You were definitely a natural!
We definitely need to make SUP an annual thing! It was so fun!
SUP is definitely on my list of things to do the next time I get the opportunity. It looks so fun! You guys got some great pictures! Really great treats on your TYT! 🙂
It is SO much fun! You should definitely treat yourself to SUP soon!
I hope that helps with your knee pains! No fun 🙁
I like grocery shopping too – there’s something that makes me happy about buying good food for me and the husband!
I am glad I am not the only “weird” one who thinks grocery shopping is fun! I’d like to think that just makes us extra cool, right?
What an awesome weekend! I love SUP and that picture of you and the owner’s dog is adorable.
And yes, I agree that buying healthy foods is a treat. I have to remind myself of that every month when I look back at how much I spend on food. It’s a treat and an investment in our health, right? 🙂
I am glad you can relate. My grocery bill is out of control!!! :/
I LOVE paddle boarding! Such a great sport and wow do you wake up sore the next day!
No kidding!! It is crazy the muscles it works that you do not even realize you have 😉
You dog is so cute and lovely! Just want to share, We just adopted a goldendoodle from the local shelter. It was horribly abused by the breeder because it didn’t have the right look. So we’re trying to undo the damage. It’s terrified of people, hardly eats and barely drinks. And it recoils to human touch. I’d love to meet the breeder who did this to her.
