Special News Bulletin: I Interrupt this Blogcation for a Tasty Product Review! 😉
You guyyssss (and gals, of course! ;))…I have an awesome product review to share with you today! As the title of this post states, I am just slightly obsessed! Okay, actually I am really REALLY obsessed. Once you try them for yourselves you will totally understand why.
Many months ago (hey, I had to try them all first before I was able to give you an honest review) I received this wonderful package in the mail. There is nothing quite as exciting as getting a package in the mail. But when that package contains SIX full-sized bags of tasty-sounds snacks…well, that makes me really excited! The awesome folks over at Hi I’m Skinny Sticks sent me six of their flavors: tangy barbecue, veggie tortilla, cheddar, sea salt, sweet potato, and sweet onion.
Hi I’m Skinny Snacks are made with whole grains, have up to 40% less fat than regular potato chips, are all natural, are GMO free, and do not use refined sugar. Basically, for a salty or sweet snack, they are something that you do not have to feel guilty about eating.
I could not wait to dig into the flavors, but knew that I wanted to try one bag at a time so that they did not go stale. I loved these, but even I can only go through them at a certain pace ;). The BBQ-loving individual in me knew that the first flavor I needed to try was the tangy barbecue.
These are SO good. I do not even know how to explain the goodness that came out of this bag. I had to portion out a “serving size” whenever I ate these because otherwise I would have easily eaten the entire bag in one sitting. These babies are addicting!
Next, I tried the sweet onion flavor. While I really enjoyed the seasonings used in these sticks, they seemed to be a lot smaller and less crunchy than the barbecue sticks. I was kind of disappointed. So…flavor-wise they are great. Substance-wise? They leave a little bit to be desired.
Next up:
The veggie tortilla flavor!
Not only was this flavor delicious (no surprise there), but the sticks were also quite colorful! I found that to be fun :). I shared this variety with my mom and she really enjoyed them, as well. This flavor is a little lighter on the seasonings than some of the others, but I fully welcomed and appreciated that. Who needs chips when you can eat these?
The fourth flavor that I tried was the sweet potato variety. Holy cow, these are good! You seriously do not need cookies or ice cream for “dessert” when you have these. I am not sure what I was expecting (these are sweet potato flavored, after all), but they were sweeter than I had anticipated. Trust me, it was a really good sweetness, though. I am a huge fan of the sweet/salty combination, so these really hit the spot!
Go ahead and call me plain and boring. No really, it’s okay. I must say, that of the six flavors that I tried, the sea salt flavor was absolutely one of my favorites. The crunchiness was perfect and the simplicity of the sea salt was delicious. I may be a simple girl, but I think that sometimes that is okay. And simplicity in this case was so good!
Last but not least…
I really enjoyed the cheddar flavor. I would certainly choose to eat these over most “cheesy” chips or snacks out there because they certainly fulfilled my cravings for a cheesy snack. The only thing that I did not love about this flavor is that they are not vegan (not surprisingly). All of the other flavors are plant-based, though, so that makes me happy :).
So what is my ultimate verdict on the Hi I’m Skinny Sticks? Well, they are GOOD! I really liked all of the flavors and especially loved the barbecue, sweet potato, and sea salt flavors. I love the fact that five out of the six flavors are vegan, and I also enjoyed the fact that you can eat so many of these babies (34 to be exact) for so few calories (120-130, depending on the flavor). While the ingredient lists are not flawless, they are quite good, especially for packaged snacks. Choosing these over most pre-packaged salty snacks, like chips, is certainly going to be the healthier option in most instances.
I have established that I love this product. But do you know what really stinks? I cannot find them anywhere in my area! 🙁 I have requested them at a few of my local grocery stores, but I am still waiting to see if they get them in. I tried requesting them at my local Whole Foods, but was told that they are only available in the Canadian Whole Foods warehouses. Ugh…so disappointing! I really hope that people get their act together (and soon!) so that I can enjoy more of these yummy snack sticks. If you have them in your area feel free to send me a bag or two ;).
