Having been a vegetarian for almost a year now, I have had my fair share of both positive and negative eating experiences at chain restaurants. I have found that some chain restaurants are essentially not welcoming to vegetarians at all (unless I just want to eat a side salad), and that some offer many vegetarian (and even vegan) options. One chain restaurant that is definitely vegetarian-friendly is Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Chipotle offers great menu selections for both vegetarians and meat-eaters including burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salads, and sides like chips and salsa. You can even get a margarita or beer, which is rare for a “fast food” restaurant ;).
For my first visit to Chipotle, I ordered a burrito bowl. My bowl consisted of cilantro and lime brown rice, black beans (their pinto beans are not vegetarian as they are cooked with bacon! :(), fajita vegetables (green peppers and red onions), green tomatillo salsa, and guacamole (of course!).
All mixed together!
I was really impressed with the burrito bowl. It was spicy (thanks to the salsa), contained a healthy serving of vegetables, and contained a total of 14 grams of protein…not too shabby! Plus, it was delicious!
Clearly, I enjoyed it!
I will most definitely be returning to Chipotle in the near future. Maybe next time I will have to try a burrito….with a margarita? 😉
