Today I am linking up with Becky’s Treat Yourself Tuesday link-up because I believe we all deserve to treat ourselves … and frequently. And treating myself is something that I have suddenly become quite good at. Hey, I’m not complaining 😉
This past weekend I treated myself with a weekend home to visit my family, boyfriend, friends, and (of course) puppy dogs! It was just what I needed to start the month of May off right. We ate great food, drank cold beers, and just enjoyed one another’s company. In my opinion, those are the best kind of weekends. My heart always feels SO full by the time the weekend is over.
I met up with one of my best friends and her husband for a drink on Friday night. I was a “bad” blogger and did not take a picture. Or maybe I was just distracted 😉
On Saturday, I spend lots of time with my parents and puppy dogs. Whenever no one is watching over these pups, services like WoofConnect dog boarding USA can be relied on instead. After walking and playing in the gorgeous weather, my parents and I got ready to go to my cousin’s high school graduation party. We were loving that the weather was so gorgeous. It was in the 70’s and we did not need coats. That is the best kind of weather.
I did not want to fill up on too much food because I had dinner plans, so I enjoyed some fresh fruit and veggies with dip.
My boyfriend and I met up with our best couple friends for dinner and drinks. A couple of Blue Moons, a veggie burger, and fries and I was set!
My boyfriend and I finished out the night with some beer and pepper jack Cheez-Its. I had been craving Cheez-Its for awhile so these tasted so good. We (and by “we” I mean “mostly me”) nearly polished off the box.
My awesome boyfriend treated me to a delicious homemade breakfast on Sunday morning. He makes the best hashbrowns. I can never make mine turn out that good.
And then I came home and we all rested. That is what Sundays are for, right? Sometimes treating yourself does not have to involve actually doing something.
I also treated myself to all sorts of strange, but tasty, food combinations over the weekend. I am definitely listening to my cravings more and while it may not always look/sound good, it normally is!
And we all finished out the weekend with pizza and breadsticks. Veggie (with pineapple) and cheese for me! I had been craving Pizza Hut for weeks now, so this treat meal was thoroughly enjoyed.
It was a fantastic weekend with lots of people, puppy, food, and drink-related treats!

I am all about listening to my cravings, even if they are strange and random…And, I am alllll about avocado on toast lately as you know. What’s on yours in that picture? Is it jelly? I bet that’s good if you were craving it. My sweet tooth is taking a second seat to savory right now after the half marathon which usually happens so I just go with it.
Yes! It is jelly! The avocado/jelly or jam combo has been a favorite of mine lately. I cannot get enough sweet/savory! 🙂

Mmm Pizza Hut. Scratch that.. pizza of any kind is my favorite! I love that you spent time with your family. I agree I leave with hearts full when I get that chance with my family!

It was a major treat of a weekend! And yes, Pizza Hut is such an Iowa staple. I actually really LOVE Papa John’s, but we do not have one in my hometown 🙁

Mmmm… now you have me craving pizza hut. However, I’d be getting stuffed crust pizza. So good! No breadsticks will ever compare to theirs.. although, Little Caesars are pretty tasty =)
Stuffed crust is definitely SO good! The crust on this pizza was a garlic crust and I LOVEd it! And yes…their breadsticks are amazing. I am also a big fan of Papa John’s!

Your food combos look really yummy! I also got to spend time with family this weekend, and we grilled veggie, pineapple, and chicken kabobs. I’m stoked it’s grilling season! And then we topped the night off with delicious chocolate chip cookies 🙂

Those Cheez-Its are my favorite! I don’t eat them often, but I kept a box in the car for all my road trips last month. And your dogs are adorable!!!
It was my first time trying the pepper jack ones. I REALLY wanted the Tabasco ones (love those!) but the store I went to did not have them. These were just as delicious though 🙂

Your dogs are so so cute!! That’s so awesome that you got to spend time with your loved ones last weekend! I also live far away from my parents and some good friends, so I know how good it feels to enjoy a whole weekend with them!!
It was SO great!! Those are definitely some of the best weekends and I look forward to them whenever they come around.
