Since becoming a vegetarian who follows a mostly plant-based diet, I have really missed ranch dressing. I have found many other great vegan dressings to top my salads with, but my salads have just not been quite the same…until now.
I made a vegan dill and ranch dressing, and I made it with tofu. Yes, tofu. And it tastes good! I’m telling you, I am going to prove to you that tofu is not only versatile but delicious ;).
It does not look like tofu, does it? No. It looks like ranch dressing. And, my friends, it tastes like it! I call this a Vegan Dill and Ranch Dressing because it definitely has a strong dill taste to it. What can I say, I love it! If you want less of a dill taste, I recommend using half of the amount of dill that the recipe calls for and then adding more to taste.
Vegan Dill and Ranch Dressing
Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups
Ingredients
12 oz silken tofu
1/4 cup + 1 TB unsweetened almond milk*
1 tsp lemon juice
1 TB apple cider vinegar
1 TB “no chicken” Better Than Bouillon soup base
2 TB vegan mayonnaise**
1/2 TB dried dill
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp dried chives
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
*You can use less milk to make this more of a “dip” than a dressing, should you prefer.
**I used the Nasoya brand:
Directions
1. Place all ingredients into a food processor or a high-speed blender (like a Vitamix or Ninja).
2. Process the ingredients for approximately 30 to 60 seconds, stopping to scrape the sides, or until smooth.
3. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your liking.
4. Store the dressing in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. This should last a couple of weeks in the refrigerator, though mine was gone in less than a week!
Since adopting a mostly plant-based diet, I never thought that I would be able to eat (let alone make) a vegan salad dressing that tasted as good as the ranch dressings that I was used to eating. Luckily, I surprise myself every once in awhile when I am in the kitchen.
This dressing is proof that vegan salad dressings can and are healthy, creamy, and delicious.
Disclaimer: I was provided with free product from Nasoya, but I was not compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.

I JUST made a Ranch-style “dill dip” with Nasoya! Started as a Ranch, but I just couldn’t stop adding dill <3 Our tastebuds are totally on the same wavelenght.
Haha, too funny!! I love it! What can I say…we have GREAT taste! 😉
I LOVE making homemade dressings! They make salad tons of fun. I had no clue it was possible to make vegan ranch dressing – I’m definitely going to try this!
I don’t know why I never thought to try this before. It wasn’t until I discovered the awesomeness of silken tofu that the idea came to mind.
Aww thank you for sharing this! I will have to go almost vegan for 4 months to get rid of gut sensitivities (I’m allowed to eat fish and meat though) so I’m superglad for recipes like this!!
I’m so glad to hear you are finding some good recipes here! It can certainly be challenging at first when transitioning to dairy free.
You have no idea how happy I was to see that pop up on my Bloglovin newsfeed! I sure do miss ranch! You are my hero 😉
Haha, too funny!! 😉 But in all seriousness, I was REALLY missing it!! I am glad to have it back in my life.
very interesting..I am not much of a ranch person but love dill flavored dips.
I bet you would like this then because it has a strong dill taste to it!
What a cool recipe! I keep saying that I need to try and experiment with tofu. I just got some coupons in the mail, so I’m going to pick some up and might just give this a try. 😉
Do it, Kim!! Just make sure you get the silken version for this recipe :).
I’m not a big fan of ranch, but I should make this and sneak it to my family this summer to save a few years of their life since they eat so much ranch.
Haha do it! It’s fun to try to trick people with tofu ;).
That dip looks so great! I order Ranch Dressing with basically everything and this seems like an awesome and healthier option to try!
Yes, it is definitely much healthier! Plus, it contains protein which is pretty cool!
I’m totally intrigued by this! I love ranch dressing, but often it’s made with all sorts of questionable ingredients. I’ve never worked with tofu before thought, so this would be all new for me!
Yes, most definitely contain funky ingredients. You should give this a try. Tofu, especially silken tofu, is super easy to work with!
I love this idea! It looks delicious and I can’t believe its tofu as ranch 🙂
Hope you are having a good week!
You can make some AMAZING things with tofu!! 🙂
I know this seems weird but I don’t like ranch dressings on salad. I like ranch with pizza though! This would be a good pizza dip! I like blue cheese and Cesar on salads but won’t eat those with pizza. This has to be much healthier than typical ranch.
A couple of my college roommates used to LOVE dipping their pizza in ranch. I gave it a try and I must admit..it is GOOD!
This sounds so good! Tofu can be so versatile.
It REALLY is! I have decided that it is one of the most versatile foods that I have cooked with.
I’ve been looking for a healthier ranch style dressing for the longest time, so I’m totally psyched about this recipe! Using silken tofu as the best is brilliant! Definitely need to try this out!
Thanks Holly! I have been looking for one for awhile, too, and I don’t know why it took me so long to think to use tofu! Let me know if you try it!
Wow, I am so impressed with this! Can’t believe TOFU makes good ranch dressing!! You’re so creative girl!
Haha, thanks Amy!! It is seriously CRAZY the number of things that can be made with tofu!
I’ve heard of tofu being good for dressings – but I’ve never seen a dressing recipe that sounds this good… which says a lot because I’m not usually a fan of ranch or any type of creamy dressing
Thanks so much, Jessie! Isn’t it amazing the foods you can make with tofu? I have been loving it!
This is definitely a dip I can get behind! I love Ranch.
Thanks Ashley!! You and me both! 🙂
I am amazed by this. Tofu?! In dressing?! Awesome. I’ve tried the tofu-based Caesar dressing that Whole Foods has at its salad bar, and I’m guessing it’s similar to that!
Isn’t it crazy?? I swear, I am convinced tofu is one of the most versatile foods ever!!
Hi! Can something be substituted for the soup base? I can’t find that in my part of Canada.
You could try leaving it out and maybe adding in some salt. Or, you might look online. I believe that can be ordered from places like iHerb.com I hope that helps!
Delicious!! Doubled seasonings except soup base added a pinch of sea salt and pepper and only 2 T almond milk. Family loved it. Thanks
I’m so glad you got inspiration from my recipe and that everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing.
I just made this to put on salads, veggie burgers and wraps this week; OMG I have found my go to ranch recipe! I made it exactly as the recipe says with the exception of parsely….I didn’t have any lol. I was really nervous about this because other tofu based ranch dressings i’ve tried have been pretty bad and tasted purely of tofu, not this one though! I love it!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Yay for no tofu taste!
Hi Hannah, I was hoping you could help me replicate Nasoya brand dairy free Creamy Dill salad dressing. I remember that it was made from silken tofu, had lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, salt, but beyond that I’m not remembering every ingredient and proportionately clueless for recipe measurements. I’d like to use fresh dill and fresh for all other herb ingredients are part of the recipe. Can you help me? Thanks
