I don’t know about you, but there are some days when I am just really not feeling it when it comes to getting my workout in. And low and behold, often those days are when the weather is not so pleasant. It is hard enough waking up at 5 a.m. to get my booty to the gym, much less having to do so when it is snowing or bitterly cold outside. Lucky for me, though, I have found something (or rather, someone) to get me out of bed and moving before my work day even begins. Cue my own personal trainer: Jillian Michaels.
You may recognize Jillian from NBC’s The Biggest Loser, where she serves as a trainer. Beyond her role on the show, Jillian boasts a diverse range of achievements. She has developed a successful line of workout DVDs, authored best-selling books, and accumulated over 20 years of experience as a fitness expert and wellness coach. If you’re interested in becoming a certified health and wellness coach yourself, you might want to explore the program offered by the American Sports and Fitness Association, available at https://www.americansportandfitness.com/products/health-and-wellness-coach-certification.
I have been a fan of Jillian’s workout DVDs for years. I bought her No More Trouble Zones and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism DVDs back when I was in college, and since then have purchased her Killer Buns & Thighs and Yoga Meltdown DVDs. I recently whipped out the No More Trouble Zones DVD on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon and the pain came flooding back…in a good way. It was a totally humbling experience for me. I actually had to take some breaks in between the circuits for fear of my arms and legs falling off ;). I was sore shortly after the workout, but it was the good kind of sore where you really feel like you accomplished something. I definitely got in a great workout. And for the days when I want a quicker, slightly less intense workout, I normally turn to Jillian’s Yoga Meltdown DVD. It is the first yoga workout that I have tried and actually felt sore from afterwards. For the days when I want to stay inside but also want a good workout, I know that I can always count on Jillian to come through for me. And if you’re looking for personal training, One Fit Mother does women’s personal trainer Charlottesville.
Jillian motivates me in the gym…er, my home “gym,” that is, and I cannot wait to see how she might be able to motivate me in other areas within my life. Next month I am lucky enough to get to attend Jillian’s ‘Maximize Your Life’ Tour when she makes a stop here in Omaha, Nebraska. Jillian will be sharing her message of empowerment with attendees on Wednesday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The event will last for approximately 90 minutes and will include a Q & A session with Jillian. The ‘Maximize Your Life’ Tour session is described as an “intimate and uniquely personal live experience that provides audience members with the tools and motivation to harness their potential, kick-start goals and live the exceptional life that they’ve always wanted but thought wasn’t possible.”
If you live in the Omaha area, you can purchase tickets at TicketsOmaha.com, by phone at (402) 345-0606, or at the Ticket Omaha office in the Holland Performing Arts Center, which is located at 1200 Douglas Street in Omaha. Tickets start at $25. And for those of you not in the Omaha area, check to see if Jillian will be in your area here.
For those of you within the Omaha area (or who are willing to travel here), today is your lucky day! You have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a 4-pack of tickets to the Jillian Michaels ‘Maximize Your Life’ Tour show at the Holland Performing Arts Center on March 12th. This is a prize package valued at $276. You can enter to win this giveaway using the Rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway will be open from February 17th through March 2nd at 11:59 p.m. CST. I sooooo know that feeling of getting up super early in the dark and freezing cold of winter. I have no issue waking up, it’s the waking up combined with getting dressed and out the door – I wimper while I do it, I swear!
I agree..it is rough! Sometimes I sleep in my workout clothes just to increase the chances that I will actually go 😉
This is unrelated but I LOVE your blog redesign!!!
Thank you SO much, Andrea! 🙂
Eeek, this is the second post I am reading about Jillian Michaels coming to Omaha. Clearly, I moved back to Omaha just in time. Such a Biggest Loser fan 🙂
You’re definitely inspiring me to pick-up some of those DVD’s as well.
Yes, you definitely did!! Omaha has some good things for for it, that’s for sure! 🙂
I keep meaning to try some of her at home workouts – we get a few on our amazon prime subscription I think… ! And I agree – when the weather is bad it always seems to be so hard to get motivated to work out!
You should definitely give them a shot. They are seriously intense!
I’d take my friend who is working on eating healthier and losing weight, too.
What a good friend you are! 🙂
I love Jillian Michaels….I wish I lived closer to Omaha, I’d love to go see her show!!
I am really excited to see what all she has to say! I wish you lived closer to Omaha, too! 😉
Great review… I’ve seen Jillian’s workouts in the stores and I know a lot of people are into them but I never know if they would be “enough” for me. Since getting into Les Mills classes I feel like no at-home workout compares but I agree that sometimes leaving the house is the last thing you want to do lol. I’m definitely going to pick up a video for snow day workouts after reading this 🙂
And I would definitely take my friend Jenna from college… she loves Jillian Michaels and I know she’d love this this!
I was seriously JUST thinking about the fact that I can’t seem to make it to the gym. The roads have been so icy here that I’m kind of nervous to drive inland to the gym (I live on the coast). I need to check out YouTube or get a DVD myself!
