It’s time for another Blogcation interruption for a new and great product review!
I have a confession to make. I am a “healthy living blogger” and…..I don’t like oatmeal. That’s right. Oatmeal and I do not have a good relationship. I have tried it and disliked it numerous times throughout my 25 years of life. We just do not mesh well together.
Or at least that is what I thought until I made overnight oats for the first time about a month ago. No matter where you look in the healthy living blog world, you are sure to run across overnight oats. I see recipes for various types of overnight oats, and I see them popping up all over “What I Ate Wednesday” posts. Since oatmeal and I have not had a good relationship in the past, I was naturally skeptical to give the overnight oats trend a try. That is until one day in July when I decided to take the plunge and try my oats in a whole new form. The verdict? Well, it turns out that while I don’t like my oats warm, I sure do like them cold!
I also discovered that I like my oats even more when they are both cold and customized!
I ran across a post highlighting MyOatmeal.com on Kim’s blog a little while back. I really loved the idea of being able to customize my oats to my liking, and was so excited when I reached out to the company and they offered to hook me up with some of my very own oatmeal! MyOatmeal.com is a fairly new company that enables you to build your own oatmeal combinations. They have five different varieties of non-GMO oats, which can then be jazzed up with additions like natural flavors (think peanut butter, cheesecake, white chocolate, etc.), dried fruits, nuts, and/or seeds.
I went somewhat basic when building my oatmeal because I knew that I would be adding in my own sweeteners and fresh fruit. I built two small bags of oatmeal using steal cut oats and the cinnamon graham natural flavoring. And because I have been on such a major overnight oats kick lately, I could not wait to incorporate my custom oats into a delicious overnight oats creation.
Cinnamon Graham Overnight Oats (Vegan)
Ingredients
2/3 cup of oats (I fill my measuring cup with about half of the cinnamon graham oats blend and half of a plain whole rolled oats blend)
1 packet natural sweetener (I used Truvia) or sugar
1 TB milled chia seeds (I prefer the milled variety because I don’t even notice they are in there!)
1/2 TB cocoa powder and/or 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk + 2 TB in the morning
1/2 cup whole puffed kamut, corn, or brown rice cereal
fresh berries
Directions
1. Combine oats, Truvia, chia seeds, cocoa powder and/or cinnamon, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk into a bowl. Stir until well-combined. Cover and place in the fridge overnight.
2. When you are ready to eat the oats, add an additional 2 TB of almond milk to the mix and stir until well-combined. Top your oats with puffed cereal and berries to add some sweetness and additional substance. The cereal and berries are optional, but I never eat my overnight oats without them!
Eating your overnight oats out of a cute bowl is not required, but it certainly makes it more fun! 😉
I loved my overnight oats before I discovered MyOatmeal.com, but now I really love them. The added flavor of cinnamon along with the combination of textures of the various oats really gives them a little something extra. My brain is already working on overload with all of the ideas for various overnight oats that I could possibly come up with by using the hundreds of various oatmeal combinations available. The ideas truly seem endless.
I am definitely a big fan of MyOatmeal.com and will continue to incorporate their product into my morning breakfast routine. The only thing that I think their website is lacking is a bit better description of each type of available oats and a vegan-friendly listing. These are two things that would make me an even bigger fan of the product. I am all for creativity, and I love finding companies that allow me to use my imagination when it comes to food!

Sounds like a very delicious combination!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I hope you try it out!
I am going to check out this oatmeal company – sounds cool. I love my oatmeal cold, not even as overnight oats. A lot of the time, I make a pot of steel cut oats and eat them cold each morning mixed with fruit/ peanut butter etc. Even plan, it is delicious.
I have never thought to make/eat it that way, but I am LOVING that idea. I’ll have to try it!
I have a confession to make too, I LOVE oatmeal, especially when it’s hot, and I’m the only food blogger who really dislikes cold oats (or at least that’s how I feel). I haven’t only tried them once and am willing to give them a try again….maybe with this recipe. Thanks!
You should! Adding plenty of cocoa and cinnamon makes them delicious, and the healthy flavored oats are a great addition! Adding in some nutbutter sure doesn’t hurt either ;).
So glad that you’re loving MyOatmeal! Cinnamon Graham OO sound delish! By the way, your bloggie breaks about over, right??? 😉
Yes, they are tasty! And yes…I’ll be back on Monday! It seems like I have been gone forever, right? It has really been a blessing in disguise, though, because work has been CRAZY busy these past few weeks.
THese look AWESOME! I am so checking out MyOatmeal! I’m also very picky about oatmeal – I only like it warm with brown sugar, banana, and almond milk. But I do like overnight oats!
You should try the banana bread flavor on myoatmeal.com! I bet it is good!
I only like cold oats as well! I ate overnight oats every morning after Levi was born for about 6 months! I ate it so much I got sick of it lol but this seems like such a great idea!
Haha, I bet! I am trying to keep my breakfast varied, but I definitely eat this one a lot!
