Hello to all of you lovely Clean Eating Veggie Girl readers! My name is Ashley and I have a blog called “Wishes and Dishes“. First of all I want to thank Hannah for having me. I have been blogging for just about two years now and this is my first ever guest post on another blog. I decided to share my Fruit and Nut Salad with you today which has become one of my favorite quick, easy and healthy dessert/snack ideas. The main focus on my blog is cooking and baking a lot of no-fuss dishes that are tasty, yet not very time-consuming. Therefore, most of my recipes are easy to put together and, of course, taste delicious!
My husband and I have been cutting back on desserts for the past couple of months and this fruit and nut salad has been our go-to choice when we are craving something sweet without all of the guilt that goes along with consuming a huge piece of cake or pie. Sometimes you just have to have something sweet! One of our favorite restaurants here in Rochester, NY, Aladdin’s, has a fruit and nut salad that we order frequently and love. We recreated it at home and it tastes just as great as theirs. And who needs pie when you have this delicious treat?!
This recipe calls for plain Greek yogurt, but you could substitute any flavor that you want to, such as lemon or vanilla, to change it up a bit to your liking. The possibilities are endless! You can even swap out the walnuts for some granola to keep that nice crunchy texture. Also, any fruit combination would taste great. You can whip this up quickly and eat it as a healthy snack, dessert, or even an on-the-go breakfast. You will also LOVE the addition of the raw honey! It gives this dish the perfect amount of sweetness.
You can find some other tasty treats on my blog that you can feel good about eating: these Cashew Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, or a smoothie, like this Banana Cashew Smoothie or this Watermelon Strawberry Banana Smoothie. These choices definitely fit the bill when you need something sweet but you also need to fit into your pants afterward 🙂
Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
*Serves 4. You can use any fruits you like (melon, pineapple, peaches, etc.)!*
1 kiwi, peeled and chopped
1 cup grapes
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 Red Delicious apple (any apple will do), chopped
7 strawberries, chopped
1 orange, peeled and chopped
1 and 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2-3 tablespoons raw honey
DIRECTIONS:
Place all fruit on a large plate or in a bowl. Scoop Greek yogurt on top of the fruit and sprinkle walnuts over the top. Drizzle honey over the top of the fruit and Greek yogurt. You can also place the Greek yogurt on the plate first and layer the fruit, nuts, and honey on top.

Oh YUM! So how do you keep the yogurt firm? I want to try this!!
Hey Ashlee! I used Greek yogurt and spooned it on top right before eating it and it stayed firm 🙂
Hi there! I was recently nominated for the Liebster Award, a fun little blogging community award. I have nominated you to keep the trend going! You can read all about it over at my blog. (P.S. this is just a fun little blogging community award, but I promise it’s not spam!)

That’s a great lookin’ salad! And for a slightly different texture and flavor, you could use Coconut Cream instead of greek yogurt.
Love that idea!
Thanks! Keep putting together great looking meals, and I’ll keep having new ideas for them!! 🙂
This looks delicious, especially for something so healthy! The mixture of honey, nuts, fruit and yogurt seems almost perfect. I love fruit tarts fr desssert, and this seems like a similar but much less guilty option.
Exactly…it’s a fruit tart without the tart 😉 Thanks, Nico!
This is such a great idea! The idea of fruit for dessert is perfect. Sweet, yet satisfying. I love the inclusion of greek yogurt and nuts to help keep you full.
