The perfect Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning for all of your Mexican-inspired dreams.

Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning {AIP Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comHappy Wednesday Thursday (yay!).  With this whole three-day weekend thing, my days have been completely messed up.  I’m definitely not complaining though.  Being one day closer to Friday means we are just a wee bit away from the weekend.  I don’t have anything super fun planned, unless you count cleaning, unpacking, and house projects, but I’m hoping to squeeze in a bit of relaxing along the way.  I feel like lately I have been on the go-go-go, and I know I need some stress relief in my life for both my sanity and my health.

Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning {AIP Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comSince my days never feel long enough and I’m still recovering from mono, I have been trying to keep my meals as simple as possible.  For me, that often means anything with Mexican flavors.  I don’t know what it is about nachos and tacos, but they require the least amount of work while hooking you up with the biggest amount of deliciousness.

Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning {AIP Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comI’m pretty sure my go-to taco seasoning is partially to thank for that.

Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning {AIP Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comYou can very easily figure out exactly how I like giving Mexican food a spicy flare when I don’t want nightshades to be in the picture.  Just look at every single nacho and taco-ish recipe I have shared over the past year.  Or, I could be super nice and share the bulk recipe so that you can bottle it up yourself and use it at a moments notice <– which is exactly what I did this past weekend!

Homemade Nightshade-Free Taco Seasoning {AIP Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comI like to store the seasoning in a container that has a shaker fitment attached.  This makes quick and easy seasoning a complete sinch.

I love that dash of cinnamon in there! It's kind of like people who add a dash of cocoa powder to chili!

This is so awesome! I'm totally going to make some of this- love when I already have all of the ingredients in my pantry :)

Thank you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. And I hear you.. not having to go to the store to get what you need is THE BEST.

I live a (mostly) nightshade free life. I find I can tolerate them in small amounts. It can be tough with seasonings for sure. It has never occurred to me to make my own seasonings. Such an interesting idea. Thanks for sharing! https://thedogtribe.com/2016/07/08/easy-dinner-czech-meatball-dish/

I hope you give it a try. While it does not taste exactly like traditional taco seasoning, I find that the turmeric gives it a nice kick!

That really looks tasty! It gives me a few ideas for Saturday night with my family.

That's great, Randy! I'm sure you and your family will love it!

This makes me think of your guacamole that had radishes in it... you are so creative about where you get your "heat" in Mexican dishes! :)

Aw, thanks Sarah! I love me some good spice even without the ACTUAL spice! ;)

Adding cumin is a great idea too. Cinnamon is so much a taco seasoning, Thanx!
    • ClnEatingVegGrl October 4, 2016, 9:13 am
Cinnamon is actually one of my favorite things to add to taco seasoning because I'm a huge fan of the sweet/salty/savory combo!

I thought cumin was a nightshade spice right?, saw someone suggest that.
      • ClnEatingVegGrl June 11, 2017, 8:09 am
Cumin is one of those spices that most resources do not list as a nightshade spice, but may cause issues for those who are sensitive to nightshades. Essentially, you just need to figure out what does and does not work for your body. I hope this helps!

So, how much do we use? A couple tablespoons? Do we add water like with regular taco seasoning? I'm just starting the AIP diet.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl May 4, 2017, 8:39 am
It's entirely up to you and your tastes. I honestly never measure and just sprinkle it in until I think it is well-seasoned. No need to add water, in my opinion.

My ground turkey meat turned green when I added this seasoning mix. I didn't expect that considering the seasoning is orange colored from the turmeric.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl October 19, 2017, 3:27 pm
How strange! I can't say I have ever had that happen before!
  • Wendy February 18, 2018, 6:37 pm
    Thank You!

Mine turned green too. Likely because it's not beef and it's turkey. Looks like 🟡 curry.

Delicious! Newly nightshade-free this year after a solid 2 years of trying to figure out what was up with my gut. Should’ve known, I’ve never been able to tolerate bell peppers!
