The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco

Keep reading to see what I consider to be The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco!

I’m a five grocery store chains kind of girl.  I cannot commit to just one, and I often visit two to three in one week just to buy all of the products I’m after.  Does this result in hours spent grocery shopping?  Yes.  But it also usually means I get the best produce, products, and bargains.  And that makes the few extra trips worth it to me.

Since making the move to Iowa City in October and being gifted a Costco membership from my brother for Christmas, it is safe to say that I have developed somewhat of an addiction to the warehouse store chain.  And over the past four months, I have come to realize several things: Costco is quite addicting; shopping at Costco on the weekend is never a good idea (you’ve heard of road rage, I get aisle rage); and, surprisingly, Costco is quite Paleo-friendly.

On my most recent trip to Costco, I brought along my handy-dandy iPhone to snap pictures of my favorite Paleo-friendly products.  I’d say this is essentially proof that even health-conscious, foodie freaks like me can get their money’s worth out of a Costco membership (or, in this case, my brother’s money).

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoorganic power greens – $4.99

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoavocados (6 count) – $4.99

Because you can (obviously) never have too many avocados.  Or too much guacamole.

Bananas are the perfect snack and smoothie addition.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoorganic cooked beets – $6.99

If you love cauliflower rice like I do, save yourself a step by buying it pre-chopped.

You already know how much love these.  With everything.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoorganic ground beef (4 lbs) – $19.99

We go through ground beef like crazy.  Now if only this was grassfed!  What is more important?  Organic or grassfed?  Who can tell me?

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcofrozen turkey burgers (12 ct) – $11.49

I have not tried these yet, but I’ll definitely be buying them for grilling season.  The ingredients list is simply “white turkey, kosher salt, rosemary extract, black pepper.”

I love frozen berries in smoothies, or eaten for dessert with coconut milk whipped cream.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcofrozen organic broccoli – $5.99

We go through frozen broccoli like crazy since it is Jeremy’s favorite food (seriously).  Did you know you can roast it from frozen?  That is my absolute favorite way to prepare it.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoblanched almond flour – $17.99

I haven’t been all that into almond products lately (AKA my body hasn’t been liking them), but this is great for those of you making grain-free baked goods.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoorganic virgin coconut oil (84 ounces) – $19.99

I think Jeremy thought I was crazy when I bought this last week, but it is one heck of a deal.  We made a bet on how long it will last.  I’m guessing maybe six months.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoavocado oil – $9.99

Another favorite Paleo oil of mine.  I use this all the time for roasting veggies, in dressings, and for cooking.

Pure maple syrup is the perfect natural sweetener for your baked goods.  Plus it’s awesome on Paleo pancakes and waffles.  Can we also talk about how insanely great this price is?!

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcoorganic chia seeds – $7.49

For all of my chia seed loving friends.  I can almost guarantee you won’t find organic chia seeds in a 32 ounce bag any cheaper.  In fact, you may only find non-organic chia seeds in a bag half that size for the same price.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #CostcoHimalayan pink salt – $3.99

This.  On absolutely everything and in warm lemon water.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costconatural canned black olives (8 ct) – $10.59

It took me awhile to start liking olives, but now I have been eating them like crazy.  I love them on salads, in meatballs, and on all things Mexican-related.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcocanned wild Alaskan pink salmon (6 ct) – $12.99

Seriously inexpensive canned salmon.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcocanned wild albacore tuna (6 ct) – $14.99

And tuna.  This particular brand normally costs at least $4.00 for a single can (that’s a $24 + value for those who don’t want to do the math).

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcococonut water (9 ct) – $19.99

I am not personally a coconut water drinker, but I know others love it in Summertime Paleo beverages and smoothies.  Maybe I need to try ‘er out this year?

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcodry roasted almonds – $16.99

Costco has large bags of whole nuts for very reasonable prices.  They have almonds, cashews, and pistachios.

The Best Paleo Products to Buy at Costco | cleaneatingveggiegirl.com #Paleo #glutenfree #Costcofreeze-dried fruit – $13.99

Let’s end things on a sweet note with some freeze-dried fruit.  I’m thinking this sounds like a great kid-friendly Paleo snack (or big kid-at-heart).

Who knew Costco had so many amazing Paleo-friendly, organic, healthy foods?  I sure as heck didn’t until I stepped foot into the store for the first time.  I’m kind of loving it, and I love that the warehouse grocery stores are moving that way.

You are SOOOO right on the pre-cut cauliflower. I can't seem to cut a fresh head without making a massive mess of my kitchen.

I love making cauliflower rice and mashed cauliflower, but holy cow is it annoying to prep. I end up getting little pieces of cauliflower all over the floor, in between the counter/stove, etc.!!

Try roasting the cauliflower, and making your version of General Tso sauce, its the bomb!! We use a vegan recipe I found. We love it. Sweet potatoes I would have added to that list. I make burritos, power bowls, tacos, and burgers with them.

That sounds really delicious, Keara! I'll have to try that!

Yes! I am honestly baffled sometimes when I see how cheap they are able to offer things that would normally cost twice as much at a regular grocery store.

Okay, I totally need to switch from Sam's to Costco. I mean Almond Flour? I go through tons of that stuff! Sam's only has coconut flour, coconut oil and almond butter. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious recently posted...Banana Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Muffins {GF, Low Cal}My Profile

I am a faithful Costco shopper and like you I shop at three different stores for other products that I use in my kitchen and for supplements etc. I have a question to ask - have you checked the origin of the organic ground beef - I believe it comes from 3 different countries - that is the reason I buy the Costco Bison instead it is literally fat free and nutritionally much better than the ground beef it is sourced in the United States - I guess I have become a real stickler when it comes to meat that is brought into the United States from foreign countries, I support our local farmers and ranches and feel more comfortable when I serve it to my family. I have gotten into the habit of always asking the butchers whether it be Costco or other stores WHERE DOES YOUR MEAT COME FROM - I am happy to see that Costco is carrying more and more organic foods but please do not take it for granted that because it says ORGANIC it is o.k. look for the SOURCE thanks for your many hints and recipes
    • ClnEatingVegGrl April 25, 2016, 5:55 pm
Thanks so much for commenting! I have been wondering about their bison, so I'll have to give it a try. I do my best to buy local meat from my area co-op, but Costco meat works in a pinch.

We all get "aisle rage" haha! Good one. Beets are one of the few veggies that I have not been able to find a recipe/method of cooking that makes me like them :( I've book marked your sloppy joe recipes to see if that will work. I love the idea of frozen berries with coconut whipped cream! Do you let the berries thaw or microwave them prior to eating? Very helpful post - thanks for sharing all of your favorites, Hannah! I totally have not loved beets until I started making them in these red sauces. Definitely try it! I generally just keep the berries frozen and dip them into the coconut whip. I think if they were warm, the coconut whip would melt since it already melts pretty easily as it is.

I love to stop at Costco whenever I'm in Iowa City. A lot of the things on your list are usually on mine too. :) As far as your meat question, the USDA revoked the "Grass Fed" label back in January because they couldn't verify and enforce the labeling claims being made, so it could actually be hard to tell if you're getting what you think you're getting by buying "Grass Fed" labeled beef. I don't know very much else about buying meat because we raise our own beef and pork, but I thought at least that might help you! http://www.agweb.com/article/grass-fed-label-dropped-by-usda-for-beef-video-naa-wyatt-bechtel/
    • ClnEatingVegGrl May 3, 2016, 12:33 pm
Yes, I just recently heard about this and it makes me so sad! I should probably just do my best to buy local meat since I have a better idea of where it is coming from.

Just did my 1st Paleo shopping trip to Costco this weekend. Although I didn't look at this list before going, I certainly spotted a couple of items to get the next time around, specifically meat. My "best find" actually was organic almond milk. I'd switched to organic soy several years ago for a variety of reasons and have been very pleased with the product so when I first investigated what is/isn't Paleo my biggest disappointment was soy milk. I found not only was the organic almond milk less expensive by the ounce than soy (LOVE that information on price labels as it helps to determine the "premium" to be paid for better quality food) it also comes in smaller "bulk" packaging -- soy = 12 and almond = 6. This is a great option. Another find has been agave sweetener. Costco has an organic brand that I've used at least a year and have found no drawbacks. I use it in everything one would normally use sugar for. Finally, I've just started reading about cauliflower rice. I've always loved cauliflower and was shocked by it's versatility. A chicken place around the corner -- Zorn's -- serves mashed cauliflower. I'm excited about to see what I can make from "cauliflower rice". This is now available too from Costco. Chopped up and ready to go. This is all new for me so figured I'd share what I discovered on my first paleo shopping trip at Costco I didn't gleem here.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl September 26, 2016, 12:38 pm
It sounds like you did a great job, even without the list! Isn't it amazing how stores are finally starter to cater to healthier diets? I'll have to be on the lookout for the cauliflower rice. I did not know they had it!
  • Lisa February 15, 2017, 3:33 pm
It is quite a chore to find good quality Paleo friendly products. I only eat Organic, pasture raised (for dairy and meat), grain free, legume free and BPA free (for any plastic or cans). Costco is getting better. I wish that every Costco carried the good stuff, you just have to keep searching. I would rather go to another store or do without then settle for just anything. My find of the week was grain free crackers which are to die for (really, I wish I did NOT like them). Double big boxes of Simple Mills crackers.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl February 17, 2017, 8:23 am
I need to try those Simple Mills crackers! They sounds amazing. I'll be on the lookout for them at my Costco ;)
  • Katriela March 14, 2017, 3:29 pm
Hey, just so you guys know Costco has a policy where you can request any product that Costco carries at other stores within your very own. I'm in Canada & they do a great job of trying to deliver that item so long as your country can have it! We've requested beets & othr goodies & found them on our next trip!
    • ClnEatingVegGrl March 14, 2017, 3:34 pm
Thanks so much for the heads up! I'll have to give that a try at my local Costco.
  • Jodi Lamb July 2, 2017, 11:24 am
I've been to Costco with a friend but don't have a membership. I've been trying to decide if it would be worth the membership fee since it is a little out of the way for me. This post just persuaded me! I think I'll be getting a membership this week!
