A Full Day of Whole 30 What I Ate Wednesday Eats: July 15, 2015

in Other

How goes it whole foodie friends?

It is time for another full day of Whole 30 eats in honor of What I Ate Wednesday.  Today marks day ten for me, and I am pleased to say that it is going by rather quickly.  My fingers are crossed in hopes that I start to see some positive results soon!

What I Ate WednesdayA Full Day of Whole 30 What I Ate Wednesday Eats: July 15, 2015

WIAW breakfastBreakfast was deeeelicious.  I am happy to say that I am not completely sick of eggs yet, so I started off my Saturday with ’em.  I scrambled up two whole eggs in coconut oil with orange sweet peppers and half of a leftover grilled chicken and apple sausage.  I also ate a sliced banana with almond butter.

WIAW lunchI went to a work picnic for my department over the lunch hour.  I kept things Whole 30-compliant by eating a grilled burger with compliant ingredients topped with mustard.  I also brought raw veggies as my side dish contribution since I knew that I could eat them.  I paired my burger and veggies with an apple.  I am glad I brought the apple along, as it really helped to complete my meal.

wiaw evo hemp barI did not eat enough healthy fats in my lunch, so my stomach was grumbling again around 3:00.  I snacked on this new-to-me Evo Hemp bar.  I picked this up at Whole Foods in Denver while I was on vacation, so I hope I can find some in my area.  I loved the cashew cacao flavor, and loved that it was made with Whole 30-compliant ingredients.

wiaw dinnerI ate dinner around 7:00, and it was everything and more that I was hoping it would be.  I ate Whole 30-compliant baked chicken tenders dipped in mustard.  On the side I had sautéed kale in coconut oil, a pickle spear, and baby carrots.  I am pretty obsessed with these chicken tenders, and I’m sure I will be for quite some time!

wiaw fruit snackBy the end of the evening, I was craving a sweet treat.  I am really trying to reduce my snacking, but I truly felt like I could not go ten more hours without food.  I chose some frozen grapes and strawberries that I dipped into almond butter.

I have to say that I am most definitely not sad about my latest Whole 30 eats.  I think this day is proof that the Whole 30 does not have to be miserable.  Do I get to eat everything that I want to eat?  No.  But I still get to eat A LOT of what I want to eat!

I am so glad, Sara! And isn't that the beauty of WIAW? It is fun to see what others are eating, even if it is very different from our own!

Ohhh I'm interested in those Evo Hemp bars! I've never seen those before but it sounds delicious! I'm always on the hunt for healthy snacks to keep in my desk drawer :) Happy WIAW, Hannah!

They are super good, and they have some unique flavors that I have not seen from other bars. I hope I can find them here in Omaha!

It is from Eating Bird Food!

My first exposure to Whole 30 was on another blog where she and her husband used some type of meal service to get all the foods. Therefore, I assumed Whole 30 was sponsored by the meal service and that was the only way to do it. Good to see the trend is quite manageable on your own!
    • ClnEatingVegGrl July 15, 2015, 8:13 am
That is interesting! ;) It is definitely SO manageable to do on your own. With a little meal planning and some prepping, it is actually quite simple. It is, after all, all about getting back to eating simple/whole foods!

Yummy eats! I'm so curious about those chicken tenders! Were they breaded with something? Your breakfast looks fabulous!
    • ClnEatingVegGrl July 15, 2015, 11:13 am
Check out Eating Bird Food's recipe! They are breaded with almond meal, coconut, and seasonings. I think you would love them!

Have you noticed a change in your desire for snacks since staring the Whole 30? I am such a snacker and I wonder if this would help at all. Frozen fruit is such a yummy dessert! Heather@hungryforbalance recently posted...WIAW: Hungry-Hungry HeatherMy Profile

Because I am more doing the Whole 30 as a diet elimination instead of trying to combat eating habits, I have still been incorporating about 2 snacks into my days.... so, I'm not sure I can answer that question very well! I have to say that I would be haaaangry if I was not eating them!

I am thinking of doing a whole30. I really like how you made it look so easy. I think I may be putting too much thought into it and scaring myself right out of doing it! Thanks, you might have just talked me into it!!! Tammy recently posted...What I Ate Wednesday #1My Profile
    • ClnEatingVegGrl July 15, 2015, 3:18 pm
It is honestly pretty simple. If you do some research beforehand (I highly recommend the Whole 30 cookbook- it has the "rules" and recipes in it) and if you do some meal planning/prepping, you will be set!!
      • Tammy July 16, 2015, 4:24 am
Thanks! I will grab that. I have, It Starts With Food, but the cookbook would be a sound investment.

While I am not currently doing a whole 30, I think it is a great way to change up one's eating habits and adapt the taste buds to real food! I am a huge advocate of eggs for breakfast, and also love to scramble them in with a banana sometimes. Your eats are awesome :)! Niki @ Life With Niki recently posted...What Do Persians Eat? I’ve tried all three diets- veganism, vegetarianism, and a meat diet and I’ve always felt the healthiest with a vegan diet. Eating meat always made my energy levels decline and milk and eggs did the same but to a lesser degree. Plenty of protein can be found in so many natural vegan sources so the myth that vegans don’t get enough protein is wrong too. Keep up your good work.
    • ClnEatingVegGrl July 17, 2015, 8:41 am
I definitely agree that vegans are MORE than capable of getting enough protein into their diet. Good for you for following a diet that works best for you and your body!

I'm so happy you're loving the Whole30!!! I like to eat this way regularly - keeps me feeling good! When I stray from it and eat more grain free treats, I definitely don't feel as well. I'm about to give vegetarianism a try - then I might go full vegan and see what happens. No meat hasn't worked for me in the past, but we'll see!!! I can't wait to keep up with your new journey! How ironic that I am going more towards meat and you are going more towards where I used to be. It's funny how food and our bodies work! ;)
