While they may have a fancy name that I can only correctly pronounce about 30 percent of the time, there is no fanciness involved when it comes to making these.  Four necessary ingredients + an endless amount of toppings = one healthy, superfood breakfast in five minutes flat.  Below you will find a step-by-step tutorial on how to make acai bowls at home.

Makes 1 bowl

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
2 Sambazon unsweetened acai smoothie packs, thawed for 30 minutes or run under hot water for a few seconds
1/2 large frozen ripe banana
1 tsp honey or agave nectar (vegan if using agave nectar)
2/3 cup frozen mixed berries*
1/2 cup granola or cereal*

*You can great creative with your toppings.  These are simply my go-tos.  I often see people topping their bowls with fresh banana slices, shredded coconut, nuts, and/or seeds.

Directions

1. Place almond milk, acai smoothie packs, banana, and honey or agave nectar  into high-powered blender.

2. Blend until well-combined and all chunks have disappeared.  The texture will be similar to a very thick smoothie.

3. Poor acai mixture into bowl and top with desired toppings.  I always select frozen mixed berries and granola for mine.

I have seen acai bowls all over the blog-osphere lately but I never knew how to make them. I love oats and I love smoothies so I feel like this would be the perfect breakfast for me. Thanks for sharing! Where do you get the acai smoothie packs? Sara @ Lake Shore Runner recently posted...Tried it Tuesday #2: Goat Cheese, Sunchokes, Fennel + Blue Apron DiscountMy Profile

Yes, these are the BEST breakfasts!! I find the smoothie packs at Whole Foods. I bet you could search on the Sambazon website, too, for a store locator!

Yes, you definitely should! It sounds like I need to take a vacation to Brazil sometime! So far I have two places on my list. Brazil for acai bowls and apparently Israel is VERY vegan-friendly.

I love, love, love acai bowls. <3 I haven't made one in a while and there are a couple acai packs in my freezer (my mom mailed them over last winter because they don't sell any here and since it was during the polar vortex, they were still cold when they got here; silver linings!). Timeee to change that! Farrah recently posted...The Powerlifting & Pole ConundrumMy Profile

  • Anna’s Mama August 2, 2018, 7:44 pm
I made the açaí from the packet I got at Wegmans added coconut milk and a 1/2 banana blended it like your supposed to and mine is not thick at all it’s like a milk shake what went wrong
    • ClnEatingVegGrl October 26, 2018, 10:43 am
I would try adding less coconut milk next time. You could also add chia seeds to absorb some liquid. Since it is frozen, it will melt over time and become thinner.
