Healthy Living Survey

in Other

Today I am breaking my own personal blogging rule.  I am posting on a Saturday!  Generally speaking, I avoid posting on Fridays and Saturdays in order to give myself a “break” from the blogging world.  However, I have not shared a survey with all of you since the holidays, and I have been seeing this Healthy Living Survey floating all over the blogs the past few weeks…so, naturally, I wanted to join in!

Healthy Living Survey

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

This morning, after going to the gym and running some errands, I made two Breakfast Fruit Pizza Whole Wheat Pancakes.  Let me tell you, this was one delicious and filling breakfast! ….recipe to come! 😉

2. How much water do you drink a day?

I am not, and have never been, a huge water drinker.  I just do not crave it like some people do.  I have been trying to get better about drinking more water, though.  I try to keep my Cambelbak water bottle with me at all times and this has really helped me to incorporate more water into my diet.  These days, I aim to drink 50 to 60 ounces per day.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

Hmm…this is a tough one.  Ultimately, my favorite workout is to run.  I am just now starting to get back into running after my knee surgery in June (yes, that long ago!), but when I am not running I really enjoy walking.

4. How many calories do you eat daily?

Honestly, I have no idea, and that is how I would like to keep it!  For awhile I got stuck in the habit of counting calories and I found it to be way too obsessive and controlling.  Now that I no longer count calories I am free! 🙂

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Healthy bars, like Larabars!

And…various salty snacks including Pop Chips, popcorn, and lentil chips.

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Nearly every lunch that I eat consists of leftovers from  dinner from the night before and either an apple or carrots with hummus.

7. What is your favorite body part to train?

Either my legs or my abs.

8. What is your least favorite body part to train?

This is tough…probably either my shoulders, triceps, or biceps.

9. What are you “bad” food cravings.

Now that I have started following a healthy vegetarian (sometimes vegan) diet, I do not find that I crave “bad” foods very often, but my weaknesses are ice cream and cake!  I do, however, try to satisfy these cravings in healthier ways.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Yes, every day I take a multivitamin, a B-12 vitamin, and a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc/D3 vitamin (I up this vitamin to 2 on vegan days).

11. How often do you eat out?

I do not eat out very often.  It just depends on the week.  At the most, twice per week(which is rare), and sometimes (like this week) not at all.

12. Do you eat fast food?

Rarely, and only if Subway, Panera Bread, and Chipotle count as “fast food.”

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

My parents!

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Sure do!  I especially need one during these winter months!

15. How many hours of sleep do you get per night?

On a good night it is around 8 hours.  Most nights, however, it is more like 6.5 to 7 hours.

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

I do not.  The only time that I “cheat” (I so do not like that word!) is on occasion when I eat out.

17. Do you drink alcohol?

On occasion, but far less than I used to back in my college days! 😉  I will have a beer or two now and then or maybe a margarita.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

Now that I have moved, I do not.  But my favorite person to go on walks with or go to the gym with is my mom.  When able to, I also love running with my dad.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I do not think that I can pick just one… I feel better (physically and mentally), my acid reflux is under control, I am healthier, I am at my ideal body weight, I have more energy, and I feel better about myself!

20. What is the last healthy thing that you did?

I went to the gym this morning and walked/ran 3.25 miles.  It was a great way to start the day! 🙂

Happy Weekend Everyone!!  Now go do something healthy for you mind and body!

    • cleaneatingveggiegirl March 2, 2013, 3:19 pm
Yes, it is a shame that all of us vegetarians can't get together for dinner!! That would be so fun :).

I hate training my arms/upper body too! I've yet to find someone who feels the same way haha...also enjoy training my legs/core the most after running...looks like we're fitness twins :)

I've been wanting to try the skinny girl margarita! Do you recommend it?
    • cleaneatingveggiegirl March 2, 2013, 6:42 pm
I really like it. It definitely has a very strong lime taste, though, so you have to like that!

How could you not post after having a breakfast like that! For the past few years, my diet has consisted of whole foods and foods without artificial ingredients. I used to be a huge ice cream eater, but since eating healthier, I find I go for Greek yogurt over ice cream. I never thought I would see the day! I don't have a cheat day either! Happy weekend and thank you for sharing! I enjoyed learning more about you!

It continues to amaze me how much changing my eating habits has totally changed my taste buds. I now eat healthy foods that I never ever thought that I would try and like. It is really quite awesome :).

This is one of my favorite blog surveys! I'm so glad it's made a "comeback" because I love love love reading everyone's answers! :D Like you, I'm not a big water drinker; in fact, I have to force myself to drink it! Fortunately herbal tea counts, because THAT I do love. I'm also a fan of SoBe Lifewater, kombucha and Kevita probiotic water, all which come in a number of delicious flavors. Bottled drinks are an expensive habit, but they keep my hydrated. :) The fruit breakfast pizza looks delicious! I'm looking forward to that recipe! Oh, and I love what you said about the freedom that comes with letting go of calorie counting---it's so true! <3 :)

I'm going to have to save this to do as one of my upcoming posts. Thanks for sharing!
  • kaityscooking March 3, 2013, 6:51 am
subway, panera, and chipotle are the bestttt "fast foods".. i think in the summer when its to hot to cook in the kitchen i go to subway atleast 2x a week, the best..!

Great survey. I like training my legs too, but my arms are my least favorite. I guess that's why I'm so weak. Lol. I hate the word cheat day too. Even back when I was more closely watching my calories, I never had "cheat days." I just ate healthier versions of my favorite. Now the only thing I can really cheat on is eating too many veggies. ;)

This is such an interesting post! I also love fruit and rarely eat out. Sometimes I try to estimate my calories, but it's a pain and really hard to pin point for sure the number of calories I eat.

I love that you exercise with your parents when you get the chance. That is really so cool!
  • erinksage March 6, 2013, 1:40 pm
I agree, it's awesome you exercise with your parents! My mom is a yoga/pilates instructor and I'm currently working toward my yoga instructor training, so we practice together fairly often. I'm a big-time cardio-lover too, and occasionally I can convince her to go on a nice, challenging walk with me.
