Burger and Fries Bowl

in Entrees, Recipes, Sandwiches

A perfect Burger and Fries Bowl.  Because the two belong together.

Burger and Fries Bowl {Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comDo you know what I think is weird?  I find it so strange when people eat their way around their plate.  I’m talking about when someone eats all of one side dish, followed by the second side dish, and then the main course (I’m looking at you, Jeremy).  Weird, weird, weird.

Burger and Fries Bowl {Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comMaybe this is all related to the fact that I am a food blogger.  Or the fact that I was once food obsessed (and still have some of those tendencies at times).  It can’t be “normal” to notice these things, right?  Regardless, I think the food on one’s plate or in one’s bowl should be enjoyed together.

Burger and Fries Bowl {Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comIf I see a menu item involving fries ON TOP OF a burger, I am completely on board.  I want to bite into both at one time and truly experience the absolute perfect pair that exists between a good burger and a side of french fries.  It’s like PB & J, eggs and avocado, or chips and salsa/guac.  They just belong together.

Burger and Fries Bowl {Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free} | cleaneatingveggiegirl.comAnd since eating a bunless burger with fries piled on top doesn’t sound very easy, I am piling them on top of one another in a bowl.  We wouldn’t want to accidentally drop a fry on the ground, now would we? <– though I would totally call a 10 second rule in this instance

Paleo, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Nut-Free

Serves 4

Ingredients

1 lb of grassfed ground beef (ground turkey also works)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp fine sea salt
1/4 tsp dried cilantro
1/4 tsp dried parsley
1/8 tsp dried ginger
2 large russet potatoes
2 TB avocado oil
2 tsp fine sea salt
lettuce
red onion
mustard, guacamole, and/or ketchup

Directions

1. Combine beef, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, cilantro, parsley, and ginger in a medium bowl.  Mix well (I use my hands).  Form into four burger patties.  Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.  Place a cooling rack on to a baking sheet.  Set aside.

3. Wash, dry, and slice potatoes into fry form.  Combine the fries with the avocado oil and sea salt in a large bowl.  Toss to coat all fries.  Place fries on the rack inside of the baking sheet.  Bake for approximately 50 to 60 minutes, flipping once halfway through, or until crispy.

4. When there are about 20 minutes remaining for the french fries, grill your burgers outside or in a grill pan on the stovetop until they reach your desired temperature.  I like mine medium-well.

5. Combine your burger and fry bowl in the following order: lettuce, french fries, one burger, onions, and your favorite burger condiments.

6. Dig in with a fork and knife.

I confess... I am guilty of eating things separately! Even worse, I really don't like when different foods touch. Weird, yes. But you get to enjoy the meal slowly and savor each bite! But maybe I could branch out a bit and try this bowl.... Anything with a burger and fries is bound to be delish! Ruth recently posted...Summer CSA Week 2My Profile

Umm, this looks SO good - especially with all that avocado! I'm a separate eater, and I don't like food touching, hahaha. Jesse on the other hand mixes EVERYTHING and I'm like, NOPE! Kristy @ Southern In Law recently posted...Recent Things: Mermaids, Unicorns and Blogger SwapsMy Profile

Apparently there are a lot of separate eaters out there! Maybe I am the "weird" one ;)

I love this! I am a huge fan of pairing everything on the plate together. If it happens to run into, touch, or top something else on the plate--every bite is still delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! It's a great idea. Amanda recently posted...My Birthday and Hill City Jams!My Profile
